  1. Q. Can this work for a portable battery for a dashcam? I would need a female cigarette outlet is there any for this?
    A: As this solar panel's main function is to maintain the battery, not for full charging of your battery.
  2. Q. how long will it take with good sunlight to recharge a dead 12v automotive battery?
    A: If your battery is dead, no maintainer or charger will charge your vehicle battery enough for driving, hence brake & headlights! You would need a new battery! This is basically a trickle charger meant to maintain the battery capacity!
  3. Q. At 5 watts it shouldn’t need a controller but mine is putting out 20.9-21.8 volts. Damage battery?
    A: About putting out 20.9-21.8 volts it is Open-circuit Voltage (Voc), Maximum Working Voltage (Vmp): 17.9V. This panel is safe to charge a 12V battery. If battery consumption is more than charge, the battery will drain since Vehicles have a small but constant battery drain - Modern vehicles have upwards of 30 body control modules (computers), alarm systems, immobilizers, and lock monitoring. These units all consume electricity from the battery.
  4. Q. Can you hook up two together?
    A: I don’t see why not just need a jumper wire. I use this for my buggy when it sits up and it works well.

I use this to keep the battery in my camper charged. I have yet to use it on a "battery only" trip, but it does a good job keeping the battery charged when in storage. I also have used it to charge my cell phone while camping, simply used the clips to connect to a charger that plugs into a cigarette lighter, I will be making an adapter soon so that I don't have to use the clips and leave them exposed, but it worked great. . Highly recommend ！

My husband and I purchased a used Ramp accessible van. Shortly after the new battery kept dying. Not fun.Took it to the shop a couple of times and they still haven't figured out why there is a phantom draw on the van's battery that kills it after about 5 days of not driving.. This works great for trickle charging my truck battery, but I've just learned how to use it as a USB solar charger.If you buy a 12v power (cigarette lighter) extension with two or three outputs, you can plug the solar charger into one socket, and a car USB adapter into the others. You don't have to plug anything into the cigarette lighter Power will flow from solar panel into one socket providing power to USB adapter in other socket.

Works as USB solar charger too.

I bought this for my camper van as I just destroyed a battery with it going flat due to lack of use. Hooked it up a week ago but just looked into it to see if it was actually doing anything. Measured the battery voltage and its at 13.2 volts on a bright but overcast day so it is clearly doing its job. Time will tell in the dull and short winter days but I am more than happy with it right now. I have it mounted on the inside of the windscreen via the suckers.

I bought this originally for a electronic boat battery, which charges battery great! . But my Mini Coopers alternator went out, so I thought hmmm let’s see if it keeps charge with solar charger; and it actually worked!!! Saved me the money I would have paid to company to transfer car to shop! This works great for bad battery too. Wires fit easily under the smallest of hoods to have laying around for an emergency.
