Wind Turbine丨The Windmill Of The Third Millennium

In this blog, we’ll explain what a wind turbine is, explore its benefits, and provide solutions to common problems you may encounter.

A wind turbine (wind generator / wind turbine generator) is a device that converts the kinetic energy of wind into electrical energy. The main components are the foundation, the tower, the rotor, the nacelle(or box), and the generator. The foundation can fix the turbine, and the tower supports the rotor and nacelle. How does it work? The wind turns the propeller-like blades and rotor, which spins the generator and produces electricity.

Why choose wind turbine? (2 pros and 2 cons)

Advantages

1. Renewable & Clean Energy

It's clean, free, and widely available renewable energy. And it comes from the wind, an inexhaustible natural resources. If you can replace it with wind energy by burning less fossil fuels, you can reduce your carbon footprint.

2. Various Applications

The wind turbine generator is designed for both land and marine uses. It's suitable for your house, farm, ranch, school, gazebo, RV and boat.

Disadvantages

1. Intermittency

Wind energy is a variable resource, meaning wind turbines can only generate electricity when the wind blows. Areas with strong and consistent winds are ideal for wind energy, such as coastal areas, hills and open fields. When the wind slows or stops, so does power generation. This is called "intermittency".

The wind turbine efficiency depends on the weather, therefore, it is difficult to accurately predict how much electricity a wind turbine will produce over time. If the wind speed is too low, the turbines cannot generate electricity.

Note:The wind for the installation site depends on the topography, distance from the sea and whether there are high obstacles. (ECO-WORTHY 400W Wind Turbine Generator has a low start-up speed of 5.6mph (2.0m/s), generating power even when the wind is not that strong.)

2. Noise

Wind turbines can be quite noisy, mainly caused by the aerodynamic oscillation of the blades. This is why they are mostly found in rural areas. But if it is installed at sea /offshore, noise is not a problem. Meanwhile, as technology advances, new designs have been shown to reduce noise complaints.

Hybrid energy systems: Wind turbines and Solar panels

Neither solar nor wind can produce electricity all the time in the year. Coincidentally, the best times for solar and wind are exactly the opposite. Solar energy is most effective during the day in summer. While, wind turbines tend to generate the most power at night during winter, especially offshore wind. This makes the wind turbine and solar panel system a perfect match. A hybrid energy system of solar and wind energy can provide a stable source of electricity all year round.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wind Turbine Troubleshooting

Why the wind turbine not charge?

1 )The wind speed too low to the wind turbine’s starting speed.

2)The cable is disconnected and the charging settings are incorrect. Please make sure there is good contact between the terminals/cables and check the charging settings.

3)Check and see if any component is damaged, like blades, nacelle.

4)If there is an error message in the charging controller, please adjust the controller parameters. You can try to reset all connections and restart the controller if still fails.

5)Please check the wind turbine's voltage on the controller and see if it is lower the battery voltage. If yes, the wind turbine will not charge the battery.

6)When the battery is fully charged, the device automatically triggers protection and stops charging. We recommend draining the battery first.

2.What should I do if the turbine fan blades do not rotate and make a squeaking sound when moving?

1) The wind turbine is installed incorrectly, please check the installation.

2)If the wind turbine can not work well after strong winds, hurricane, or storm, you can try resetting it.

3.What to do if your turbine is too noisy

If the turbine makes too much noise, it may be due to damage to the generator or gearbox. If this is the case, you will need to replace them.
