Wind turbine and solar system

  • I have an existing 24v solar system to which I want to add an eco worthy 400 w wind turbine.

My electrician set everything up but seems to have hit a problem. He tells me he can't connect everything together without a dump facility and an extra regulator. I have no idea what he means, and we also have the additional problem that we are in Sicily and I don't speak Italian and he doesn't speak English so we are both standing scratching our heads and not knowing the next step.

Does anybody have any experience of trying to connect a wind turbine to an existing solar system and can give us a suggestion as to what extra piece of kit we need to get everything working.

Please bear in mind that I am a complete beginner and probably appear to be a complete idiot.

    Thanks.

  • HEY Paul Schaverien You’ll usually need a separate wind charge controller with a compatible dump load for the 400W turbine. It’s important to check that it matches your existing 24V battery bank and works safely alongside your solar charge controller.

Have you checked with Eco-Worthy whether their 400W turbine kit includes the correct controller and dump load NOW?
