How to Use the Host PC Software

September 8,2025

During lithium-battery debugging, maintenance, or configuration, the host-PC application is the most direct and effective tool. It provides real-time monitoring of battery operation and supports parameter setting, fault diagnosis, log export, and many other tasks, making it suitable for a wide range of scenarios.

I. What is Host-PC Communication?

The host PC (Host Computer) refers to a computer program that exchanges data with the battery’s BMS via serial port, USB, or other communication interfaces. Common examples include:

- BMS-vendor PC tools (e.g., JBD Tools)

👉Download the manual to learn about the detailed guide to connecting JBD with the host computer software

- Custom visualization platforms (e.g., HMI panels, data-acquisition software).

Through these tools, users can perform fine-grained configuration and monitoring of the battery.

II. Host-PC Connection Methods

Battery connectors vary by model, so the connection method to the host PC may differ. Always refer to the relevant manual. Currently supported batteries include the Server Rack series, 48V 280Ah LiFePO4 Solar Battery , etc.

Core Topic

The core theme of this article series is “Intelligent Battery Communication,” focusing on the communication functions and technologies of the 48V 100AH server rack battery and its related devices. It covers master-slave communication, upper computer communication, mobile APP communication, and inverter communication, aiming to help users understand and apply these technologies.

1.

Real-Time Monitoring

Pack voltage, current, SOC (State of Charge)

Individual cell voltage, temperature, balancing status

Protection states (over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, etc.)

2.

Parameter Configuration (password-protected)

Charge/discharge voltage and current thresholds

Temperature protection limits

Battery chemistry type and capacity settings

⚠️Caution:

Some parameters—especially protection voltages and current limits—must be adjusted carefully. Incorrect settings can prevent charging or trigger premature protection.

3.

Fault Diagnosis & Data Export

View historical fault codes and protection logs

Export real-time monitoring data to CSV files

Certain software versions support firmware upgrades

III. Troubleshooting & Solutions

Q: Cannot connect / recognize COM port

A: Confirm that the COM port is shown in Device Manager. If not, reinstall the USB driver and verify the cable wiring.

Q: Connection established, but data is garbled or missing

A: Incorrect baud rate. Reset the baud rate according to the product manual.

Q:Parameters cannot be changed

A: Insufficient privileges. Parameter modification usually requires logging in with an admin or high-level user account.

Host-PC communication is a vital tool for battery system commissioning. Mastering the connection and operation procedures greatly improves work efficiency and diagnostic accuracy. We recommend using the dedicated adapter cable and the official debugging software (available on the relevant product page) to ensure stable and safe communication.
